FAQ

Questions about Britemet Home.

Pricing, setup, roles, the assistant, and how your data is protected.

General

What Britemet is, and who it is for.

What is Britemet?

Britemet builds operational software for the home. Britemet Home turns the scattered records behind a house (maintenance, warranties, vendors, documents, inventory, and costs) into one secure system, then tells you what is coming and what it will cost.

Who is it for?

Homeowners, condo owners, and renters. The forecasting features assume you are responsible for the systems in the property; renters get the inventory, documents, emergency, and contents-coverage side. Questions? Contact us.

Where do I sign in?

Britemet Home is self-serve at home.britemet.com. This site is the public marketing site; your household lives in the app.

The Product

What it does, what it costs, roles, and the mobile app.

What is Britemet Home?

The operating system for a household: maintenance, warranties, inventory, documents, vendors, family calendar, emergency info, and more, shared with the right people under clear roles. On top of the records sit the parts that tell you something you did not know: a 15-year Capital Plan, the Home Command Board, the Repair Room, and Coverage.

What is the Home Command Board?

One health grade for the house, from A to F, and twelve lenses explaining it: reserve funding, overdue work, open safety notices, asset lifecycle, budget against actuals, seasonal pressure, data quality, vendor concentration, closed-loop outcomes, cash shape at 24 months, 5 years and 15 years, and how confident each number is. It reads the same care plan Home Command builds, at a level you can act on.

I do not have an inspection report. Can I still use it?

Yes - the report is the fastest way in, not the only way. If you bought years ago or never had one, setup walks you through your place, address, house, safety, and home finances, then proposes the major systems it expects for a house of that age, type, and location. You accept or dismiss each one, so nothing is filed you did not confirm, and every proposed system carries a confidence level and the reason it was suggested. Lower confidence is shown as lower confidence rather than dressed up. Add the report later and the forecast sharpens.

Does Britemet get me contractor pricing?

No. Britemet does not source, broker, or fetch bids. Cost ranges in the Capital Plan are planning figures adjusted for your state and shown with a confidence level, never presented as a quote. If you collect bids yourself, you can record and compare them in the Repair Room.

What happens when I actually have a claim?

Coverage does the preparation: evidence gaps ranked by value at risk, your contents limit against what the inventory is worth, category limits that will not stretch, and disaster snapshots hashed and sealed with an independent third-party timestamp. Insurance Claims runs the claim itself: loss items, evidence, the adjuster and their visit, a readiness check, a printable packet, and a line-by-line contents schedule an adjuster can open in a spreadsheet.

How often will it notify me?

Less than you expect. Reminders, recalls, weather, billing, and product news share one daily cap, so no single stream can bury the rest, and nothing arrives between 9pm and 8am in your household time zone. Safety notices such as a recall or a severe-weather warning still come through outside those hours, which is the reason the exception exists.

How much does Home cost?

A 30-day free trial with no card required, then $59.99/year early bird per household (about $5.00/month billed annually) for households that start by August 1, 2027. After that date, new households are $119.99/year. Early bird stays for households that start now while their subscription remains active. Unlimited household members on the plan.

Who can join a household?

The owner invites partners, kids, and sitters with roles. Children see shared day-to-day context without finances or codes. Sitters get a limited, expiring view when you share it.

What is Brit?

Brit is the built-in assistant for Britemet Home. It answers from your household records and can help create reminders and tasks, without pulling encrypted vault secrets into chat context.

Does it help with a military PCS or a civilian move?

Yes. Move & PCS is a full surface for relocation: PCS or civilian kind, phases from plan through pack and unpack, inventory import and freeze for claims/HHG, labeled boxes, a manifest of what you are taking, timestamped photos, a readiness score, PCS-specific checklist steps when the move is military, and a PDF packet for HHG or your carrier. It sits on the same household inventory you already use for warranties and coverage. Full detail for military families, including the pack-out checklist and HHG claim evidence: Move & PCS.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes. Britemet Home has live iPhone and Android apps plus the full web app at home.britemet.com. The phone apps share your household record and roles: six tabs (Home, Brit, Tasks, Calendar, Emergency, Settings), role-scoped search, push reminders, a 90-day agenda that can sync to Apple or Google calendar, an offline emergency card, and a vault that requires Face ID or a fingerprint before each reveal, blocks screenshots, and hides values again after 30 seconds. The full 27-surface desk - Home Command Board, Capital Plan, Coverage, deep Move & PCS work, and similar depth - is on the web. Apps are included in the household plan at no extra cost.

Can I export or cancel?

Yes. Take a full JSON export of the household whenever you want, and cancel or close the account from inside the product. Account controls live in-product after signup, on the web and in the app.

Incentives and Data

How we stay aligned with households, and what we refuse to monetize.

Do you take a cut when I hire a contractor or spend on the house?

No. Britemet Home is subscription software. When you pay a plumber, replace a roof, buy a filter, or hire anyone, we take nothing - no percentage of the job, no lead fee, no paid placement that steers you toward whoever pays us more. We are not a contractor marketplace and we do not sell your request as a lead. Vendor memory is your own history of who you used and what you paid. Full write-up: Why Britemet.

Do you sell or profit from my household data?

No. We do not sell personal data to advertisers, and we do not package your maintenance logs, inventory, or vendor list as a secondary product. Household records exist so you can run the house. Optional AI (Brit) runs under our AWS Bedrock account when you turn it on; vault secrets are designed never to reach a model. You can export data and close the account from inside the product. See the Privacy Policy and data section on Why Britemet.

How does Britemet make money, then?

One line of revenue: the household subscription. 30 days free with no card, then early bird $59.99/year locked in for households that start by August 1, 2027; new households after that date are $119.99/year. Unlimited members on one plan. If a feature only makes sense when we take a cut of a job or sell a lead, we will not ship it.

What happens to my data if Britemet shuts down or is acquired?

A fair question to ask anyone holding your household records. If we retire the product, account owners get advance notice by email and export stays available throughout, so you can take a full machine-readable copy before access ends. If the business is acquired or merged, your data can transfer with it - but the acquirer stays bound by our Privacy Policy until you are told about a replacement and given the chance to export and close, and a change of owner is not a licence to start selling household records. Written down in Privacy Policy 11.5, not just promised here.

Security

How household data is protected.

Is data encrypted?

Sensitive fields use AES-256-GCM envelope encryption with controlled reveal. Ciphertext can be bound to tenant, record, and field. TLS protects data in transit; databases and files use encryption at rest with managed keys. See the full Security page.

How are privileged / break-glass actions handled?

Break-glass and privileged overrides require dual approval, a distinct executor, time bounds, and single-use consumption. Control-plane evidence is not writable by the normal application role.

How are files protected?

Uploads are scanned (malware / DLP). Blocked or infected verdicts cannot be silently marked clean. Downloads stream through an authenticated proxy that re-checks grant and scan state and records attributed access.

How does Brit use my data?

Brit is optional. Owners and admins can turn AI off for the whole household in Settings → AI & privacy (or email privacy@britemet.com). Production uses Claude on AWS Bedrock under our account. Vault data (Wi‑Fi passwords and access codes) stays in your database and is designed never to go to a model. Maintenance, vendors, and inventory may be included only when AI is on and your role allows. Free-text you type in chat can go to the model; the product warns you not to paste secrets.
